The Dark Knight and Heath Ledger
Unless you’ve been living under a rock for that last 16 months, then you know that at midnight, The Dark Knight opens. You won’t find a review of what will most likely be the most amazing movie in cinematic history on this blog.
There are plenty of sites for that.
Instead I wanted to share my first Top Ten-ish list. We’ll start with a dedication to performances translated from comic book to film. Enjoy!

14) Al Pacino as Big Boy Caprice - you may be saying, “What?” but I’ll challenge you to watch this movie again and not be impressed by Al’s performance.
13) Jack Nicholson as The Joker - lets be fair, when Batman came out I saw it 7 times and I loved Jack’s performance. Only now is it outdated and over the top.
12) Kevin Spacey and Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor - this is a tie. Mr. Spacey carried Superman Returns and Mr. Hackman is just the man!
11) Hugh Jackman as Wolverine - Nuff said
10) Willem Dafoe as The Green Goblin - he looks like a goblin, without the mask/suit.
9) Ian Mckellen as Magneto - his acting pulled this one together. (no pun intended)
8) Christopher Reeve as Superman - movie still holds up today. The late Mr. Reeve should have stopped after the 2nd movie.
7) Alfred Molina as Dr. Octopus - perfect!
6) Patrick Stewart as Professor Xavier - talk about type casting
5) Christian Bale as Batman - great choice to revamp the series
4) Michael Keaton as Batman - like it or not, Mr. Beatle Juice held his own and I prefer his performance slightly over Mr. Bales.
3) Tobey Maguire as Spider Man - Tobey can play nerdy and geeky!
2) Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man - Knew he would nail it after watching his performance in Zodiac.
1) Heath Ledger as The Joker - I haven’t even seen The Dark Knight but I know his performance will be near to impossible to top.
So am I way off? What would your list be?
