Lets look at this overlooked movie, Almost Famous. Cameron Crowe has made some good movie. This is his best.
Its a great period piece that shows music and rock on the verge of becoming the big franchise that we now recognize today.
Philip Seymour Hoffman nails Lester Bangs as the music critic everyone hated.
Kudos also has to be given to Patrick Fugit for playing the innocent rock journalist wanna-be. His performance is a true reflection of how music can be magical to those who love it and how it can also corrupt if you’re not careful.
And though I’m not the biggest fan of Jason Lee, he does play the part of the semi-paranoid neurotic rock star well.
The soundtrack is also amazing - Cameron knows how to pick em doesn’t he?
Almost Famous: Billy Cudrup should have kept the long hair and the mustache.
